About the Role

We're looking for a senior engineer to help build the next generation of Mowt. You'll work across the full stack—from crafting Laravel APIs and MySQL schemas to building React web apps and React Native mobile experiences that handle millions of Stripe transactions.

You'll ship features customers love, wrangle AWS Lambda functions, optimize queries that slice through terabytes of payment data, and help shape our engineering culture as one of the first 10 employees. We work hard, ship fast, and celebrate wins together—whether that's a successful deploy or Friday drinks.

What You'll Do

Build and ship features end-to-end: Laravel APIs, MySQL schemas, React web apps, React Native mobile
Design scalable pipelines processing millions of Stripe webhooks through AWS Lambda
Optimize MySQL queries and ClickHouse analytics for dashboards rendering 100k+ transactions
Collaborate with design on beautiful, data-rich experiences using Tailwind CSS
Own the full lifecycle: ideation, implementation, deployment, monitoring, celebrating success
Contribute to technical decisions, architecture reviews, and team knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

5+ years building production software that real people use
Strong experience with Laravel/PHP or similar MVC frameworks (Rails, Django, etc.)
Solid React and TypeScript chops—bonus points for React Native experience
Deep knowledge of MySQL and how to make it sing (indexes, query optimization, migrations)
Experience building data-intensive applications, preferably with payment or financial data
Track record of shipping features that customers genuinely love
Strong communication and collaboration skills—we're a small team, everyone's voice matters

Bonus Points

Stripe API integration experience—you've built payment flows before
AWS Lambda, SQS, or other serverless experience
ClickHouse, BigQuery, or other analytics database experience
Built analytics dashboards or data visualization tools
Worked at an early-stage startup and lived to tell the tale
Open source contributions or technical writing

Compensation & Benefits

→ Salary: £120,000 - £160,000 based on experience
→ Equity: 0.15% - 0.35% (early employee grant)
