Maxio alternatives you can set up this week

The short answer

Be clear about scope first: Maxio is billing plus GAAP revenue recognition plus metrics, and nothing on this page replaces the rev-rec half. For the metrics half alone, Mowt ($79/month, Stripe-billed SaaS) sets up in minutes. For multi-source metrics, ChartMogul. To replace billing and rev-rec entirely, Subscript.

The reasons people search this

Why teams move on from Maxio.

01

The floor is $599/month, before implementation fees

Maxio's Grow tier lists at $599/month up to $100k MRR (as of July 2026), with custom Scale pricing above that, implementation fees on top, and optional paid add-ons for advanced analytics and revenue recognition. That's a defensible price for a billing and rev-rec suite. It's a hard number to justify if the metrics dashboard is the only part you'd actually open.

02

Onboarding measured in months, sometimes many of them

Implementation length is the most consistent complaint in Maxio's reviews. G2 and Capterra reviewers describe long, complex setups with a steep learning curve, and individual reviewer reports mention implementations running past 10 months for small companies. A tool you can't use until next fiscal year has a real cost that never shows up on the pricing page.

03

Support cases that stay open for months, and paid support hours

Reviewers on G2 report support cases staying open for six months to a year, no phone support, and being asked to buy support-hour bundles, in one reviewer's account over $1,000 for work they felt should take an hour. That sits oddly against Maxio's G2 Leader badges, but it's the pattern the one-star and two-star reviews keep returning to.

04

Invoice and metric accuracy wobbles on usage billing

Reviewers using usage-based billing report incorrect invoices recurring month after month, and one reviewer described churn and MRR metrics being wrong for years before anyone caught it. Some of this traces to the dual Chargify and SaaSOptics architecture the 2022 merger stitched together; reviewers also mention the knowledge base still mixing docs from both legacy products.

05

Web only, no mobile apps

There's no Maxio app on the App Store or Play Store as of July 2026. For a finance team at a desk that's fine. For a founder who wants to check MRR from a phone between meetings, it means loading a dense web dashboard in a mobile browser.

What Maxio still does well

Maxio is a genuinely capable platform doing a much bigger job than most tools on this page. It handles recurring and usage-based billing, GAAP and IFRS-compliant revenue recognition, contract management and SaaS metrics in one system, with 85+ native integrations spanning Salesforce, NetSuite, Sage Intacct and 20+ payment gateways. Seats are unlimited at no extra cost.

G2 rates it 4.3/5 across 829 reviews and names it a Leader in six categories, and 2,300+ customers run roughly $10 billion in ARR through it. If your auditors require real rev-rec automation, almost nothing else here even competes.

ChartMogul

ChartMogul

Best metrics layer on top of Maxio billing

ChartMogul is the only tool here that connects to Maxio directly, so you can keep Maxio for billing and get better metrics without a migration.

Here's the option most Maxio-alternative searches miss: ChartMogul lists both Maxio Advanced Billing and Maxio Core among its 25+ billing integrations. You don't have to rip out billing or rev-rec to escape the metrics dashboard. Its cohort analysis and segmentation are the deepest in the category, and the free tier covers you to $120K ARR.

It's an analytics tool only, so no invoicing and no rev-rec, and it isn't instant: ChartMogul's help docs describe a roughly 10-minute processing window on real-time sources. Capterra reviewers (4.7/5, 44 reviews) praise the UI but mention sync discrepancies against billing systems, and some long-term customers report repeated price increases.

Baremetrics

Baremetrics

Best standalone metrics suite with recovery tools

Baremetrics gives you 28+ subscription metrics from $75/month plus a real dunning add-on, at a fraction of Maxio pricing, with a 2-hour sync as the catch.

Coming from Maxio's $599 floor, Baremetrics feels light on your budget: Launch is $75/month up to $360K ARR, and the Recover add-on ($129/month) does actual failed-payment dunning work. It connects Stripe, Braintree, Recurly and Chargebee, and G2 reviewers rate it 4.6/5 across 98 reviews with consistent praise for the UI.

Two caveats. Its own help center documents a 2-hour data sync cycle despite real-time marketing, and there's an iOS app but nothing on the Play Store as of mid-2026. It also does zero billing, so like every metrics tool here it replaces only one slice of Maxio.

Subscript

Subscript

Best full Maxio replacement (billing + rev-rec)

Subscript is the like-for-like swap: B2B billing, ASC 606 and IFRS 15 rev-rec, and 50+ metrics, with implementations reviewers describe in weeks rather than months.

If you're leaving Maxio because of the implementation and support experience but still need the whole job done, Subscript is the closest fit on this page. Founded in 2020 and $21M funded (its $15M Series A closed in March 2025), it handles flat-rate, hybrid and usage billing, automated collections, and revenue schedules, and G2 reviewers highlight fast implementation and responsive support.

It's custom-quoted, typically around $24,000/year with onboarding fees, and it's young: reviewers note performance dips on large datasets, basic charting, and a thinner integration ecosystem. Capterra shows zero reviews as of July 2026, so the reference pool is small.

Mowt

Best if you only need the metrics half
Our product

Mowt is our product, so weigh this entry accordingly: it replaces the metrics dashboard only, in minutes instead of months, from $79/month.

Mowt does the opposite of a suite. It connects to Stripe with a one-click read-only OAuth, backfills your full history in minutes, and updates via webhooks so a cancellation shows up in seconds.

You get MRR, ARR, churn, LTV, ARPU, NRR, cohorts and forecasting, and the native iOS and Android apps carry every feature the web dashboard has. 500+ founders track over $1B in revenue on it, at 99.9% uptime.

What Mowt won't do: billing, invoicing, or GAAP rev-rec, ever; that's Maxio's job, and if you need it, keep it. Mowt is also Stripe-only (no Chargebee, Paddle or multi-gateway support, so if Maxio bills you through several gateways, Mowt sees the Stripe slice).

Dunning and churn-busting tools are coming soon, not shipped. And we're younger, with a smaller review footprint than anything above, so check our numbers against your Stripe dashboard during the trial rather than taking our word.

The other side

When Maxio is actually the better choice.

Stay on Maxio if you're consolidating billing, revenue recognition and metrics into one audited system. Nothing else on this page does GAAP/IFRS rev-rec automation plus usage-based billing plus contract management, and re-implementing all three elsewhere costs more than the frustration you'd escape.

It's also the right call if your finance team already survived the onboarding: the reviews are clear that Maxio's pain is front-loaded, and teams past it rate the breadth highly (59% of its 829 G2 reviews are five stars). Switching makes sense when you're paying $599/month for a suite and using only its charts.

Before you switch

Migration notes.

  • Decide first whether you're replacing Maxio or supplementing it. Metrics tools like Mowt, ChartMogul and Baremetrics connect to your payment data read-only, so you can add one today without touching billing, rev-rec or a single invoice.

  • If Maxio bills you through multiple gateways, check coverage: Stripe-only tools see only Stripe revenue, while ChartMogul can ingest Maxio itself. Map your gateways before trusting any new MRR number.

  • Expect the new tool's MRR to differ slightly from Maxio's. Rev-rec platforms and metrics dashboards treat proration, discounts and multi-element contracts differently; compare definitions against our MRR glossary entry before declaring either wrong.

  • Export your Maxio reports and revenue schedules before downgrading or cancelling, especially anything auditors have already signed off on. Historical payment data re-imports from your gateway; approved rev-rec schedules do not.

  • Run old and new side by side for a full billing cycle. Usage-billing edge cases are exactly where reviewers say Maxio's numbers drift, so a month of parallel data tells you whose figures to trust.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Maxio alternative for SaaS metrics?

For Stripe-billed SaaS that only needs the metrics dashboard, Mowt (from $79/month, realtime, iOS and Android apps). For metrics across several billing sources, or layered on top of Maxio itself, ChartMogul. To replace Maxio’s billing and rev-rec entirely, Subscript is the closest like-for-like swap.

How much does Maxio cost in 2026?

Maxio’s Grow tier lists at $599/month for companies up to $100k MRR, with custom Scale pricing above that (as of July 2026). Implementation fees apply, and advanced analytics, revenue recognition and premium support are optional paid add-ons. Seats are unlimited at no extra cost.

How long does Maxio implementation take?

Longer than most tools in this space. G2 and Capterra reviewers consistently cite lengthy, complex onboarding, and individual reviewer reports describe implementations running past 10 months for small companies. Standalone metrics tools connect in minutes to hours because they read payment data rather than running your billing.

Can Mowt replace Maxio?

Only the metrics half. Mowt replaces Maxio’s dashboards for MRR, churn, LTV, NRR, cohorts and forecasting with realtime Stripe data and full mobile apps. It does no billing, invoicing or GAAP revenue recognition, so teams that need those keep Maxio (or move to Subscript) for that work.

Does Maxio have a mobile app?

No. Searches of the App Store and Play Store find no Maxio app as of July 2026; the platform is web-only. Among metrics tools, Mowt ships native iOS and Android apps with full feature parity, ChartMogul has both (Android trails iOS), and Baremetrics is iOS only.

Who owns Maxio?

Maxio formed in April 2022 from the merger of SaaSOptics and Chargify, backed by Battery Ventures with over $150M in growth equity, and acquired RevOps.io in 2025. It’s headquartered in Atlanta and serves 2,300+ customers managing roughly $10 billion in ARR.

Can I keep Maxio for billing and use another tool for metrics?

Yes, and it’s often the cheapest fix. ChartMogul integrates with Maxio Advanced Billing and Maxio Core directly. If your revenue runs through Stripe, Mowt and Baremetrics read it there without touching Maxio at all. Your billing and rev-rec stay exactly as they are.
