If you bill through several systems, or you sit under $120K ARR and want a free tier, pick ChartMogul. It has the deepest cohort analysis in the category. If you're Stripe-only, want numbers that update in seconds, and check MRR from your phone, pick Mowt (from $79/month).

| Dimension | Mowt | ChartMogul |
|---|---|---|
| Data freshness | Realtime. Stripe webhooks push changes to the dashboard in seconds. | Stripe data is classed real-time but sits in a 10-minute processing window, per ChartMogul's help docs. Braintree and HubSpot sync hourly, PayPal every 3 hours. |
| Billing sources | Stripe only. That's the whole product. | 25+ sources: Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly, Paddle, PayPal, GoCardless, app stores, CSV and more, normalized into one revenue view. |
| Cohort analysis | Cohorts, retention and segmentation included on every plan. | Deeper. Segmentation by signup month, plan, geography, ACV band and custom attributes. ChartMogul wins this row outright. |
| Free tier | None. 7-day free trial, no credit card. | Free under $120K ARR, the most generous entry point in the category. ChartMogul wins this row too. |
| Mobile apps | Native iOS and Android with full feature parity: every web view works on the phone. | iOS and Android apps exist, but per the store listings Android trails iOS: no chart sharing or multi-account support as of the November 2025 releases. |
| Price at $50k MRR ($600K ARR) | $149/month flat (Growth tier). | Paid tier required past $120K ARR. ChartMogul's pricing slider puts $600K ARR at $119/month on Starter, $99 with annual billing (as of July 2026); the rate climbs with each ARR band. |
| Price at $100k MRR ($1.2M ARR) | $249/month flat (Scale tier). | Starter is $165/month at this band per July 2026 pricing ($139 on annual billing), continuing to climb with ARR toward $849/month at the top band. At $1.2M ARR specifically, Pro runs $299/month billed monthly ($249 annual); its top band reaches $1,439/month ($1,199 annual). |
| Dunning / payment recovery | Not shipped. Dunning and churn-busting tools are on the roadmap. | No native payment recovery either; you'd pair it with a separate dunning tool. |
| Setup | One-click read-only Stripe OAuth, full history backfilled in minutes. | Connect each billing source; data is transformed into ChartMogul's model before it appears. Reviewers on Capterra call the UI easy to learn once connected. |
| Annual discount | 20% off annual billing. | 17% off annual billing (July 2026 pricing page). |
Start here, because it settles most evaluations before anything else matters. ChartMogul consolidates Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly, Paddle, PayPal, the app stores and CSV imports into one normalized MRR line. If your revenue arrives through more than one of those, Mowt simply isn't a candidate: it reads Stripe and nothing else, and we'd rather say that plainly than bury it.
The consolidation has edges worth knowing about, though. ChartMogul's own help center explains why numbers can differ from your billing system, users have reported 100% discounts being classified differently than in their billing tool, and once sources are merged you get aggregated MRR only, with no per-source metrics view. None of that is disqualifying. It's the normal cost of normalizing five systems into one model, and nobody in this category does it better.
But if 100% of your billing already runs through Stripe, you'd be paying that translation tax, and the 10-minute processing window that comes with it, for consolidation you don't need.
These tools optimize for different questions. ChartMogul is built for "how did the March signups on the annual plan in Germany retain over 12 months?", and it answers that better than anything else here: cohort analysis with retention curves, churn heatmaps and segmentation by custom attributes is genuinely its strongest work.
Mowt is built for "what's my MRR right now, and did that enterprise customer's payment go through?". Stripe webhooks land on the dashboard in seconds, so the number on screen is the number in Stripe, not the number as of ten minutes ago.
Mowt does ship cohorts, NRR, segmentation and forecasting, but a finance analyst slicing multi-year retention by ACV band will find more room to move in ChartMogul. A founder who checks revenue eleven times a day will find Mowt answers faster every one of those eleven times. Decide which question you ask more often.
Both companies ship native apps, which already puts them ahead of most of this market. The difference is what the apps can do. ChartMogul's iOS app supports chart sharing, multi-account switching and more, while its own Play Store listing shows the Android app limited to interval switching and metric capture per the current store listings. If your co-founder carries a Pixel, the two of you are looking at different products.
Mowt's iOS and Android apps carry every feature the web dashboard has, full stop: cohorts, forecasts, churn drill-downs, customer-level detail, on both platforms (see the mobile apps). We built it that way because roughly half of founders don't carry iPhones, and a metrics app that only summarizes isn't the app you reach for when a big payment fails at the airport.
If mobile is a nice-to-have you'll open twice a month, this axis shouldn't decide anything. If your phone is where you actually watch revenue, it might decide everything.
You bill through more than Stripe. Chargebee, Recurly, Paddle, PayPal or app-store revenue alongside Stripe makes ChartMogul the only real option of the two.
You're under $120K ARR. ChartMogul's free tier covers core metrics at zero cost, and no paid tool beats free for an early-stage company still finding footing.
Cohort work is your job. If you spend real hours in retention curves and segment comparisons, ChartMogul's analysis depth is worth a 10-minute data delay.
You want a decade of track record. ChartMogul has been independent since 2014, with 44 Capterra reviews averaging 4.7/5. Mowt's review footprint is much smaller.
You need data-warehouse exports. ChartMogul connects to BigQuery, Snowflake and Redshift; Mowt has no warehouse pipeline.
All your billing runs through Stripe and you want the dashboard to match Stripe to the second, not to the last processing window.
You and your team check metrics from phones, including Android ones, and want the full product there rather than a reduced app.
You've passed the $120K ARR free-tier line and prefer flat, predictable tiers: $149/month to $50k MRR, $249 to $100k, against pricing that scales continuously with ARR.
You want setup measured in minutes: one read-only Stripe OAuth, history backfilled, no source mapping.
You'd rather verify a young product yourself than trust review volume: run the 7-day trial (no card) next to your Stripe dashboard and diff the numbers.
Yes. As of July 2026, ChartMogul's Launch tier is free for companies under $120K ARR and includes core metrics. Past that line, Starter runs from $59/month on annual billing to $699 at the top band ($69 to $849 billed monthly), and Pro reaches $1,439/month billed monthly ($1,199 annual). It's the most generous free tier in subscription analytics.
Close, but not quite. ChartMogul's help docs describe Stripe, Chargebee and Recurly data as real-time with a 10-minute processing window, while Braintree and HubSpot sync hourly and PayPal every 3 hours. Mowt processes Stripe webhooks directly, so changes appear in seconds.
Yes, but it trails the iOS app. Per the Play Store listing, ChartMogul's Android app is limited to interval switching and metric capture, without the chart sharing or multi-account support iOS gets. Mowt ships iOS and Android apps with identical features.
$50k MRR is $600K ARR, past ChartMogul's free tier, so you'd pay the Starter rate for that band: $119/month, or $99 on annual billing (July 2026). Mowt is a flat $149/month at that level; see pricing for every tier.
No. Neither ChartMogul nor Mowt ships native dunning today. Mowt's dunning and churn-busting tools are coming soon, not shipped, and ChartMogul has no payment-recovery feature either. If recovering involuntary churn is urgent, both need a separate tool alongside.
Yes, and it's the best way to decide. Both connect to Stripe read-only, so they don't conflict. Run them in parallel for a week and compare each tool's MRR and churn against your Stripe dashboard; expect small definitional differences in how proration and discounts are treated.
ChartMogul is independent. Founded in 2014 by Nick Franklin, it raised a $2.2M Series A in 2017 from Point Nine and others, and has never been acquired. As of 2026 it runs with roughly 67 employees. That independence stands out in a category where rivals sold to private equity or Paddle.
